A BREAK with tradition for the half-term holidays will see St Stephen's Players perform a play instead of the usual pantomime.
But the drama they've opted to stage - The Last Tango in Whitby by Mike Harding - has enough poignancy and humour to make it just as popular as a panto.
The plot centres around the annual charabanc trip to Whitby by a group of Nottinghamshire 60-year-olds.
There's Pat, recently widowed and determined to enjoy herself, know-it-all Henry and interfering, outspoken Kathleen, along with innocent Jessie.
Things start to hot up when Pat becomes attracted to Phil, the male partner in the hotel's resident husband and wife duo The Shangrilas, particularly since Phil is trapped in a loveless marriage to wife Edna.
The play runs in The Hall, Woodgrove Road, Burnley at 7.30pm from tomorrow to Saturday with tickets (£5) still available for tomorrow - Friday (tomorrow's tickets sold with a special two for one offer). Call (01282) 438477.
