MR Bracewell is quite right (letters October 29) with regard to council tax. No, it isn't fair.
Why should two pensioners pay the same as people in a similar house who may have two or three wages coming in? Not all pensioners get hand-outs and £100 a month is a lot out of a pension.
As for family allowance - everyone gets it, rich and poor alike. Why?
And not forgetting the cold weather payment. Again, everyone gets it when they reach 60 whether or not they are still working.
