DETECTIVES are hunting an anorak-wearing flasher who exposed himself to a woman as she walked along a Burnley canal towpath.

The sex attack follows a similar incident in the town centre last week.

Police are not connecting the two incidents but are yet to trace the men responsible for the separate acts.

The latest incident happened on 2.45pm on Sunday when a 54-year-old woman was approached as she walked along the towpath near to Tesco supermarket, in Centenary Way.

Detective Sergeant John Bullas, of Burnley police, said: "The offender was walking past the aggrieved before he went back to her, turned round and exposed himself to her and made rude suggestions.

"The aggrieved ran from the scene and reported the incident to police.

"We are not connecting the two incidents because the descriptions are totally different."

The woman described the man as a white male, 5ft ins, with an average build, in his late 30s to early 40s, wearing a checked flat cap and a black anorak.

This latest attack follows a similar incident last Tuesday at the underground car park beneath Woolworths at about 12.45pm.

The man is described as Asian, in his early 20s, about 5ft 8ins and of slim build, wearing dark trousers and a cream jacket.

He exposed himself to the woman before fleeing the scene.
