AN investigation was launched after it was announced that Blackburn's Springfield Maternity Home was to close.
Despite the move being approved by health bosses, the town's divisional medical officer spoke out about his concerns of possible 'maternity bed rationing'.
This prompted the creation of a special committee to investigate the proposed closure.
