A SHOPMOBILITY scheme which closed a month ago was due to reopen today under new management.
Accrington Shopmobility shut in September following the resignation of chairman Richard Day, who accepted a police caution when he was charged with two counts of indecent assault.
Day first resigned after he was charged in August but committee members, who have continued to support him, refused his resignation and only relented when his health deteriorated.
Six of the original committee have now agreed to reopen the Whalley Road store which loans scooters and wheelchairs to disabled shoppers in the town.
The outlet will open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am until 4pm.
