Thornton took an early lead with a goal from Alice Jackson, but Y.M.C.A. brought the score level to 1-1 before half time. Alex Cherry gave a solid performance for Thornton in defence and Abbey Webber worked tirelessly in midfield. Goals from Emma Perrett and Alice Jackson in the second half gave Thornton a well deserved victory against a team that has greatly improved this season.

Thornton were on the attack from the start and Leah Hinchliffe soon put Thornton 2 goals ahead. Ribbleton then pulled a goal back, and with renewed confidence started to put the Thornton defence under pressure, but a goal from Natasha Folks just before the break increased the lead for Thornton to 3-1.
After the break Thornton took control of the game. Tamara Fenton played excellent in midfield and scored twice. Leanne Baddeley gave an outstanding performance, and further goals from Rachel Warren, Natasha Folks and Sally Parker gave Thornton a final score of 8-1.
