BLACKPOOL Stanley lost their first game of the season against Clock Face from St Helens who played more like a team at the top of the table than the lowly position that they are in.
The home side were never in a game that saw them spend the majority of the game defending and when they had the ball in hand lacked ideas on attack. Clock Face set about Stanley's line from the first minute but resolute defence kept them out but with the loss of full back Ryan Waterhouse with a broken hand. Stanley's defence was breached with Clock Face having an easy stroll-in converted try. The home side then hit back from the kick off after Stanley won a scrum with Mark O'Hara jinking his way past four men to score a great individual try. This was the last score of a half that Stanley should have made more of with Clock getting the better of it. Clock were seeing more of the ball now constantly probing Stanley's tiring defence just knocking on over the line but it wasn't long before they were over the line for another try followed by a third try as the away side were showing Stanley how to finish. The only other scores of the half were two penalty kicks awarded for a high tackle and offside going the way of Clock Face who finished up winning a game that they fully deserved with Stanley's players facing a hard work in training and getting back to playing the rugby that they know they are capable of.
