THE St Annes Superleague darts team suffered their first defeat with only themselves to blame for missed doubles. Maybe the writing was on the wall from the start, when the team were stranded on the Motorway for nearly two hours when one of the buses rear tyres blew out.

Following a convincing 8-2 win in their first fixture the team were looking forward to a match which would keep them at the top of the table. The earlier events didn't seem to affect St Annes first play Jon Fish as he cruised his way to a 3-0 win, displaying his usual confident high scoring and registering a three dart average of (60.12). A below par performance from Alan Dyer and brother Tony saw Wythenshawe put the match score level. At 2-1 down St Annes were treated to a fine display by vice captain Bob Warham as he used his vast experience to overcome a worthy adversary 3-0 (71.57). St Annes must rue their missed chances, but will have the opportunity to put things right in their next fixture on November 2, when they entertain local rivals Kirkham. This match pits two teams who know each other well, and the prospect of some closely fought games is certain. The match starts at 12.30pm at St Annes Ex Servicemens Club, Alexandra Rd, St Annes.
