AN event to celebrate good business practice in Rossendale is to be held next week.

The awards ceremony promises to be the climax to a festival of business and learning in the borough.

Keith Tanner, event organiser, said: "We work with a number of exciting businesses in the area and the awards ceremony will recognise the talent we have here.

"It is a celebration of the talent and enterprise of the people of Rossendale."

Awards will also be given to accomplished students who have been on courses at Kingfisher's learndirect centre.

The event, held at the Kingfisher Centre in Rawtenstall, is due to get under way with a Taste of Rossendale exhibition, featuring some of the area's leading food industry professionals.

Throughout the day there will also be a series of taster sessions to highlight the work done for businesses and learners by Kingfisher Consultants.

Keith added: "We are also inviting students from schools in the area and there will be representatives from the Alchemy Club, which is designed to encourage young people who are interested in enterprise."

"We aim to make it an interesting and fun day. During the tour there will be a chance for people to take an IQ test and other interactive sessions."

The event is due to take place on Friday, November 14.
