WITH Remembrance Sunday almost upon us it was pleasing to learn that those service personnel who served and died during the Suez emergency for crown and country, 50 years ago, have at last been recognised.

Those forgotten soldiers -- many National Service lads -- who didn't make it home, have lain in a foreign land, in Egypt's Fayid and Moascar cemeteries without dignity and have been neglected far too long.

However, a national memorial arboretum has been decided upon to commemorate service personnel killed since the second world war. Indeed, after a great deal of 'lobbying' it will now include and honour our Suez mates too.

We will remember them!
