DARREN Emmett is set to make his BACUP BOROUGH debut tonight following his move from UniBond First Division side Chorley.

Paul Davies, who recently signed from Castleton Gabriels, also looks set to start at Nantwich Town tonight after missing Saturday's 2-1 League Challenge Cup first round win over Ashton Town as he was cup tied.

But manager Brent Peters is likely to be without Sean Cryer and Scott Gilchrist after they both had to be withdrawn at the weekend through injury.

Cryer was playing his first game for several weeks after being sidelined with shin-splints but broke down at half-time, while Gilchrist, playing in an unfamiliar defensive role, had to be stretchered off with a knee problem.

Tests revealed nothing had been broken, as was first feared, but Peters expects him to be ruled out for tonight's game, which is why Emmett will be thrown straight into the action.

But the Bacup boss warned: "I don't want supporters to be having high expectations of Darren straight away because he hasn't played for Chorley all season.

"But with all the chances we've been creating he just needs to be in the right place at the right time, which I'm confident he will be because he's a good reader of the game."

NELSON manager Dave Hall is confident his side can knock First Division opposition out of the League Challenge Cup tonight.

Warrington Town will be the visitors to Victoria Park following Saturday's 1-1 draw in Cheshire.

Hall said: "I've every confidence in the team, they did really, really well.

"I'm proud of them. We've played better football but the pitch wasn't the best so we'll have another go tonight."

Nelson will be unchanged from Saturday's game at Cantilever Park, with Martin Brown, Steve Whittaker and Chris Halstead all still out injured.

PADIHAM are in North West Counties Division Two action at Oldham Town tonight.

Vince Overson's side progressed in the League Challenge Cup on Saturday with a 4-1 win Castleton Gabriels.

Carl Parker is the main injury doubt after departing the action on Saturday with a bruised back but Overson is confident he can keep a winning side together.

He said: "The team should be as per Saturday and hopefully with the same result!"
