MIDFIELD duo Neil Danns and Jonathan Douglas upstaged former England star Paul Gascoigne last night as Rovers' reserves cruised to a comfortable win in the Midlands.

Danns and Douglas, who recently returned from loan spells with Blackpool, both grabbed a goal apiece at Telford's Bucks Head stadium.

And there was further good news for Rovers boss Alan Murray as Craig Short stepped up his comeback plans with another 75 minutes of action.

Rovers started brightly as an early shot from Jerome Watt flashed just over the bar.

But then Peter Enckelman had to make a smart save to thwart Michael Townsend following a Gascoigne corner.

Dean Sturridge then went close with two further chances before Rovers finally broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Douglas capitalised on a defensive lapse to clip the ball past Saul Deeney -- a goalkeeper who once had a trial with Rovers.

Six minutes later, Wolves found themselves 2-0 down when Jemal Johnson seized onto a rebound and drilled a low shot inside the far post after Deeney had saved his initial effort.

The home side suffered a further blow when Gascoigne failed to appear for the second half after picking up a shin injury.

Danns and Douglas both had chances to add a third for the visitors before the Wolves defence was breached again eight minutes from time.

Deeney was sent off for upending Douglas in the area and Danns dispatched the resulting spot-kick.
