Dukinfield Town 2 Leigh Athletic 4: CHRIS Simm blasted four goals to earn Leigh three valuable points with a 4-2 win in a tough away game at Dukinfield.

Leigh made a dreadful start and were punished as Dukinfield took the lead on ten minutes. Simm then took over equalising with a superb shot on the turn before putting Latics in the lead with an equally impressive 25 yard free kick.

With Keiron Halliwell making an assured return from long term injury, the Leigh defence soaked up anything that came their way.

Simm then virtually sealed the points when he tapped home following an error by the keeper. With five minutes remaining Dukinfield scored from a dubious penalty but this only inspired Simm again and he ran 60 yards before firing home a super solo effort for his fourth goal.

Danny Melling and Rick Wilson were outstanding in this fine win. Athletic travel to top of the table Wilmslow next week.

The reserves drew 2-2 with Elton when the visitors equalised with the last kick. Fell runner Craig Little capped his comeback from high altitude training with a goal and Jason Highton scored from the spot.

The A team lost 2-0.
