ATHERTON LR under nines gained a hard fought 3-1 away win, against a tough Rooftec Rangers side to keep them well in touch near the top of the Bolton & Bury District League.

LR took the lead after 10 minutes when Zac Nicholls scored from a corner but the lead was short lived as Rangers levelled five minutes later.

The second half produced good football from both sides but Louis Morris shot LR into a 2-1 lead before Matthew Wilkinson sealed the victory.

LR went in at half time 3-1 ahead with goals from Molyneux and Clarke (2). Bromley Cross deservedly took a second-half lead, but LR battled back well to earn a credible draw with a goal from man of the match Danny Childs.

Walshaw 7 Atherton LR U15s 2

LR's unbeaten eight match run ended with a 7-2 defeat by Walshaw.

The Bury side took the lead after 12 minutes and by half-time were 4-0 up. In the second half LR took the game to Walshaw but were only able to score twice through Sean Barnes and Cory Brown while Walshaw increased their lead with a penalty and a late brakaway.

But still LR attacked and gained a second goal but all put attack left gaps at the back and Walsaw scored again.
