This week I would like to concentrate on a few firsts that happened over the weekend.

James Street in the Blackburn Sunday League won their first game in two season and Anthony Clarkson scored his first goals for Ribble Valley Boro after nearly three years out through injury.

Taking first-things-first, I was delighted to hear that James Street won their first game in ages because it could not have happened to a better bunch of lads. They epitomise what sport is all about because despite seeing the defeats column grow steadily in the league table, they always turn out week-after-week.

Their memorable victory came against Pentland where a hat-trick from Mark Simpson guided them to a 3-2 win.

Apparently, James Street where 3-0 up before Pentland clawed their way back in to the game but they eventually held on to win.

My second first (does that make sense?) is a mention for Anthony Clarkson, manager of Ribble Valley Boro, who until recently had never played for his team due to a cruciate ligament injury.

Well he made up for lost time on Saturday, when he came on as sub against Settle to score his first goal...and second, third and fourth!

Yes Anthony will be vying for a starting place in Boro's next match after his four goal salvo in the 8-2 victory.

Paul Chippendale's place should be safe though -- he scored another hat-trick!
