WITH reference to Councillor Sir Bill Taylor's letter 'I didn't see councillor at services' (LET November 13), whatever the case, our war dead should be remembered and everybody should wear their poppy with pride, a fact lots of people in Blackburn on Tuesday the 11th seemed to have forgotten, along with Coun Evans (allegedly).
Just for the record, the total deaths in World War Two are estimated to be 61 million, of which 388,000 came from Great Britain, 63,000 came from countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, with 36,000 coming from the Indian subcontinent.
I also agree 100 per cent as an ex serviceman with Ray Geddes about the Gurkhas.
