JUST a comment on how excellently the Blackburn with Darwen Remembrance Sunday service was organised and conducted.

I was pleased to see Asian guests at the Cathedral service and I later spoke to them at the new garden of remembrance. I would like to thank Mrs Madhubala Pandya from Blackburn Interfaith Council for making us aware of the sacrifice in two World Wars and of the support we received as a nation from our empire and later Commonwealth countries and a recognition long overdue.

I also thank the Dean for officiating at the service and the Bishop of Lancaster for his excellent address, taking us back in time to Carnforth train station.

Thanks also for the parade up to the remembrance gardens in Corporation Park and the efforts of the workmen and gardeners, for it looks lovely, a fitting tribute to the 'fallen' of conflicts past and, sadly, present.

The young cadets and recruits and those more experienced leaders were a credit to their respected services, particularly the two naval cadet boys so still, either side of the memorial and the two young army 'flag bearers' -- they were all excellent.

Many thanks to our Salvation Army band who always play faithful for us each year.
