RESIDENTS in Brierfield have attended an exhibition on future plans for the town.

The exhibition at Burnley Road Baptist Chapel, in Guildford Road, was the result of hands-on planning events held in September, at which residents had the chance to have their say about the town.

Pendle Council leader, Councillor Alan Davies, said: "The exhibition brought together ideas developed with residents at the planning workshops and recommendations from the strategic plan for East Lancashire to create an Area Development Framework for the town."

The plans include proposals for tackling anti-social behaviour, increasing the choice of housing available and improving the town centre, job opportunities, community and youth facilities and the local environment.

Residents who attended the display, which also included improvements to health and childcare already planned under the Government's Lift and Sure Start initiatives, were asked to comment on the proposals.

Those unable to make it to the exhibition can view the proposals and fill in a questionnaire at Brierfield Library until today.
