YOUNG violinist Jennifer Pike will be visiting Colne this weekend as part of Manchester Camerata's residency in the town.

Jennifer, 13, won the BBC Young Musician of the Year last year and joins the Camerata group for the second concert of their 2003-4 season on Sunday.

The group will play Beethoven's Corialan Overture and Eight Symphony under the baton of conductor Douglas Boyd.

Jennifer will play Mozart's Violin Concerto in D and the programme will also feature Mozart's Overture to The Marriage of Figaro.

Jennifer was born in Manchester and began playing the violin aged five. She made her first solo appearance aged 10 and has since appeared with many orchestras, including the BBC Symphony and London Symphony.
