CUSTOMS chiefs in the North West today said a £30,000 cocaine haul was destined for the region's streets.

Customs officers at Manchester Airport seized 500 grams of the Class A drug on Saturday which they believe would have found its way to towns like Blackburn, Burnley and Accrington.

Customs' head of detection (North West) Jeremy Lee said: "Customs officers at Manchester Airport have prevented a significant quantity of cocaine reaching our streets."

He added: "This further shows Customs' commitment to helping reduce the availability of Class A drugs in the North West of England."
