AT a time when some of the pages of the press are full of alleged stories about the unprofessional behaviour of professional football players, I would like to offer you a different picture concerning Lorenzo Amoruso, of Blackburn Rovers.

As our chief guest at the Year 11 prize night on November 13, he demonstrated to more than 300 pupils, parents and governors, a picture of the consummate professional.

Each pupil who received their award was greeted with an engaging smile, a handshake for the boys and kiss on both cheeks for the girls.

After two and a half hours he gave an unplanned but delightful and inspirational speech.

Everyone who attended the evening commented on the fact that he made each pupil feel important.

He was a credit to his profession and his club.
