THE Haffner Orchestra will have to be on top form when it plays Arthur Butterworth's 'Concertante' in Lancaster on Sunday - for the composer will be in attendance.
The orchestra will need to play it as well as possible because at least one person in the audience will know exactly how the lively piece in three movements is supposed to go.
Arthur will be present at the interval of the St Martin's College event to sign programmes and talk to people about the piece - or about his life as a composer.
Other items in the programme are Mozart's Symphony Number 38, Beethoven's 'Fidelio' overture and Andrew West playing Mozart's beautiful Piano Concerto Number 20.
Andrew is well known to audiences in the city, having been pianist in residence at Lancaster University from 1993 - 1999.
Details of the concert are from 01524-770503 or 32878.
o This season is Roger Cann's last as musical director of the Haffner. He retires after 15 years in the post.
