LANCASTER City bowed out of the Unibond League Cup with another indifferent display against Radcliffe Borough at the Giant Axe on Tuesday night.

Borough came to soak up pressure and hit the Dolly Blues on the counter attack - and the plan worked perfectly.

It was City who made the early running with Steve Jones shooting just over the bar on 11 minutes but Borough who broke the deadlock on the quarter hour.

League top scvorer Jody Banim showed what he is all about with a well-placed shot into Kevin Welsby's net to round off his run deep into City territory.

Lancaster had more of the ball and were unlucky to see a Jones 'goal' ruled out for off-side soon after the break.

Banim set up strike partner Gary Sampson for Radcliffe's second on 67 minutes, and when City striker Jamie Hughes missed a penalty on 77 minutes it looked like game, set and match to the visitors.

John Robertson notched his first goal for the club folllowing a Neil Prince free kick on 87 minutes, but it was too little too late.
