A PENSIONER died after falling from ladders at his home, an inquest heard. Henry Schofield, 79, of Waterside Terrace, Bacup, climbed the ladders to fix a leaking window but fell, damaging his spine.
He was taken to hospital but died from a blood clot a week after the fall on July 28.
Daughter Caroline Spencer told the hearing her father, a retired gas fitter, had been very independent.
A post mortem examination showed the fall paralysed him from the waist down leading to the development of a blood clot which made its way to his heart. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
