BURNLEY bookmaker Mr R D Kippax dashed to save his shop when smoke poured through the floor of his office in Croft Street.
Mr Kippax said he "rescued a few thousand pounds."
Nineteen-year-old Joyce Christie put her wedding frock on and joined in the party at her home in Bolton, but she was not a bride.
Her Jamaican fiancee Winston Frazer left her a note asking Joyce to wait three weeks for the ceremony. Joyce told a reporter she was "very angry".
