PROUD father Richard Greenwood has already given son Will a special family message before tomorrow's World Cup rugby union final between England and Australia in Sydney.
Greenwood senior, who played five times at flanker for England during the 1960s, is out in Australia with wife Susan to watch Hurst Green-born centre Will try to win the game's ultimate prize with England.
And the pair caught up with each other on the squad's day off yesterday, when Richard pointed out a quirky co-incidence to his son.
"We were having a chat and I said to Will that he was winning his 47th cap for England
and that it was a significant number for me," said Greenwood senior.
"I played 47 times for Lancashire between 1961 and 1972 and to me playing for my county mattered hugely.
"But never in my wildest imagination did I ever think that I would be watching my son playing his 47th game for England - let along in a world cup final.
"I just told him that he has done me proud and just to to enjoy his big day, because this is going to be an absolutely massive match for everyone who is involved in the game."
