Middleton-Adams scored twice in the first half after forceful runs, Rushworth converting one.

In the second half Middleton-Adams completed his hat-trick and Parrot sliced through twice to finish the scoring in what was a dour struggle.

A DEPLETED Leigh came up against a strong Fleetwood side in this Lancashire cup game and realised they were in trouble when Fleetwood opened the scoring in the first minute.

Leigh tackled hard at times but their poor defensive kicking gave away a number of easy tries. David Brown again shone and deserved his Man of the Match for his ferocious tackling.

A SOLID all round team performance saw Leigh secure a well deserved victory in this first round, Lancashire Cup tie. A powerful display by the forwards in the first half gave Leigh the base to continually test Blackburn's defences taking a 33-0 lead at the interval. Although Blackburn rallied in the second half, scoring their only try, Leigh were equally sound in defence coming back strongly again at the finish. Leigh's tries were scored by Adam Bridge (2), Gareth Davies (2), Kieran Grundy, Martin Howard, Andrew Newton and Daniel Tustin. David Taylor kicked five conversions.
