RAMSBOTTOM were still waiting to appoint a new manager ahead of tomorrow's trip to Fleetwood in the FA Vase second round.
The club's board called a meeting on Wednesday night to sift through a host of applications, but current caretaker player-boss Ged Walsh has ruled himself out of the running.
"Things are going really well and it would be nice to say I'm interested, but I've thought about it long and hard and it's probably not an option for me at the moment," he said.
"It's given me a taste for it but I've still got a bit of time to play, plus I'm very busy with work and junior football.
"It's something I could do for a month or so and, long-term, maybe I could work alongside someone.
"But there are enough applicants there to make sure the right decision is made for Ramsbottom."
But while the board search for the right man for the job, Walsh will take charge for tomorrow's FA Vase second round trip to Fleetwood Town.
"It's a big test for us but we're looking forward to it," Walsh continued.
"With Fleetwood being in the same division we know all about each other so it should be an interesting tie.
"They've got home advantage but we've been there already this season, got a 1-1 draw and felt we should have done better."
