BLACK belt karate students don't come any younger than Lowton First Dan Anya Hoque.

The Gilded Hollins schoolgirl has shone at the sport she took up four years ago and achieved more points than any student -- some five years older than her -- at a First Dan grading at Birchwood.

The Cheshire Martial Arts member started as a six year old and was a Brown Belt at eight then had to wait two years before she could try for a coveted Black Belt at the minimum age of 10.

Anya turned 10 in October and last month the young international gained her First Dan.

"All our family are very proud of her achievements," said Anya's delighted mum Jacqueline.
