BOYS from Bury Gymnastics Club completed four weeks of intensive competition with resounding success.

Following excellent performances in the British Men's competition where the U-14 team finished fifth and the U12 team seventh, teams were entered in every age group into the North-West Regional Championships held at Southport.

The U-10s of Josh Tipler, Mason Whealing, Joseph Steel, Josh Donohoe and Elliot Coupe, won team gold in a close competition with superb performances on all six pieces of apparatus, with the highlights being 9-year-old Josh Tipler's High Bar routine and 8-year-old Mason Whealing's floor routine.

Not to be outdone the U-12 team of Joseph Pauline, Oliver Salt, Josh Kedie, Sam Mellor and Robert Marsh, won their age group at a canter with a massive team total of 148.8 points, 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals.

Top gymnast for Bury was Joseph Pauline who won the title after collecting gold medals on Floor, Pommel Horse, Vault and Parallel Bars while Oliver Salt won gold on Rings.

The success continued with the U-14 team finishing with 145.35 points, beating their nearest rivals by 15 points.

Jake Seager retained the U-14 individual title, but was pushed all the way by his younger Theo, who finished with individual silver.

It was only after a fantastic Parallel Bars routine where he performed his new elements (Diamidov into a double back somersault off the P. Bars) that the title was his.

Individual Golds were won by Jake Seager on Pommel Horse and Parallel Bars, Andrew Deakin on Rings and Theo Seager on Floor, and Vault.

Six members of the squad have been selected for the National Squad and World Class Start testing this month they are Jake Seager, Theo Seager, Joseph Pauline, Joshua Tipler, Joshua Donohoe and Mason Whealing.
