IN reply to Councillor M Khan's letters (LET, November 25), I would like to know what criteria areas must meet before they are allowed a government funding grant? My area, Little Harwood, is a disgrace and getting worse year by year. Many of the houses will be over 100 years-old and they are in a bad state. Also, the back alleys are unbelievably close to slums in appearance.

A few months ago I attended a meeting at the community centre. We were told it could take between 10 and 15 years before we got anything in the way of regeneration.

Some of these houses will have fallen down by then. So why bother calling a meeting to tell people this?

We in Little Harwood have had enough of being passed over time and time again and the community centre is a joke. I have seen bigger houses. It is just not big enough for the size of the population.

We don't want floodlit football pitches, we want decent housing and back alleys and a larger community centre.
