CHORISTERS have plenty of notes in store for a new repertoire when they stand in for cathedral counterparts.
Members of Bury Parish Church choir are on their way to Worcester next summer after landing £6,000 from the United Co-operative Charitable Foundation.
About 30 singers have been chosen to deputise for choristers who will be on holiday from the city's cathedral for a week next August.
The cash boost has swelled funds needed to cover more than £11,000 in accommodation and travel. The group, which includes 20 juniors, was chosen to stand in after sending a tape of their singing.
Numerous businesses in the North West were then contacted for a donation to their expenses.
David Kemp, master of choristers at the church, said: "The visit will provide a fantastic opportunity to broaden the experiences of the choir, particularly the juniors.
"We are extremely grateful for the money we have received, which will take a lot of pressure off when it comes to fund-raising."
Two bass singers and an alto are still needed by the group, which can be contacted by calling the church on 764 2452.
