ESTATE agent Stephen Burns will be making himself at home in the living rooms of thousands of households across the region.

For Mr Burns, who is a partner in Burns McBriar and Hall, is the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary to be aired on Granada TV in the new year.

Over the past two months a film crew from MMA Productions has been following Mr Burns and his staff at the Bury-based estate agents during their working and home life. Filming will continue until the end of January.

Mr Burns, who lives in Cockey Moor, Ainsworth, explained: "We were simply approached to take part in the documentary and thought it would be an experience. The production company wanted somebody who wasn't your typical estate agent and thought I fitted the bill.

"Although having a film crew following you around is quite intrusive we have got used to it and it has been quite fun."

Recently the film crew followed Mr Burns and his wife Jackie to Marbella for a business-holiday trip.

"It was quite bizarre having television cameras following you around Manchester Airport, and it caused quite a lot of attention," said Mr Burns.

The series, aptly named Viewing Recommended, has been scheduled for a six-week run on Tuesdays at 7.30pm on ITV.

Mr Burns' daughter Fay (11) is hoping the documentary could help her launch a career in entertainment!

"My wife Jackie and 14-year-old son Jack have been quite quiet and reserved about the whole thing. But I thinkFay, who attends drama school, is hoping for fame."

Mr Burns added: "I just hope that viewers see that estate agents are normal people.

"Although I don't think a spin could be put on anything we do, if there is, then I hope that the public can see beyond that."

He laughed: "I might become so popular that I could get a television show out of this!"
