BLACKPOOL go to Oldham at the weekend hoping to carry their recent impressive form into the FA Cup.

A good turnout is expected at Boundary Park as the Seasiders seek a place in the third round draw for the third consecutive season.

The Tangerines beat the Latics 3-2 back in August, though, of the goalscorers that day, Blackpool have lost the services of Blackburn duo, Neil Danns and Jonathan Douglas while Oldham have allowed Mickael Antoine-Curier to leave.

But Steve McMahon could be forced into a defensive reshuffle, with on-loan Steve Elliott and Brad Jones unlikely to be given permission to play by Derby County and Middlesbrough.

That could open the way for a return to first team action for Lee Jones and Steve Davis, both of whom have suffered injury problems.

Both Elliott and Brad Jones were outstanding in Saturday's hard-fought victory over Bristol City.

The visitors, lying sixth in the league, were as good as any team to have played at Bloomfield Road this term, but didn't take their chances as Blackpool grabbed an excellent three points.

Luke Wilkshire, a big-money summer signing from Middlesbrough, was a constant threat, hitting both post and crossbar for Danny Wilson's side.

And Jones, who has agreed to stay at Bloomfield Road for at least another month, also had to make a series of impressive saves.

After the break, it was a different story. John Murphy thought he had opened the scoring with a far post header which beat keeper, Steve Phillips, only to see defender, Danny Coles, head the ball off the line.

But the Bristol City defence could do nothing about the goal on 58 minutes.

Danny Coid, not normally renowned as a set piece expert, clipped an excellent free kick over the visiting wall. Phillips got down well to save but Scott Taylor reacted quickest to lift the rebound into the net. Phillips had to remain alert with the always lively Richie Wellens coming into the game more and more, but Bristol also looked dangerous at the other end, with substitute, Lee Peacock, twice going close late on.

Blackpool's incredible November, eight games, seven victories, just one goal conceded, was not enough to earn Steve McMahon the second division's manager of the month award.

That went to QPR's Ian Holloway, whose side lead the division and dropped only two points in the league programme.
