BURY companies are being given the chance to pierce the bamboo business curtain.

They are being offered the opportunity to expand their horizons and market their goods and services to potential clients in China later this month.

Earlier this year, a delegation from Bury Council established a friendship agreement with Datong. Now, the town's business community could forge lasting and lucrative trading links with China.

Among the delegates will be Bury businesswoman Lynda Hannam of Harwill Engineering. She said: "Bury Council have kindly offered to translate, free of charge, an A4 sheet for local companies interested in engaging with potential new contacts as part of their commitment to developing the friendship agreement."

Their details will be passed to chambers of commerce in China and could potentially be seen by thousands of new clients.

Commenting on the trade mission, she added: "This provides an excellent opportunity for Bury firms to tap into an expanding global market".

This month's visit, arranged by North Manchester Chamber of Commerce, is primarily to discuss environmental issues. The highlight will be an exhibition in Beijing between December 15-19.

Bury businesses interested in taking up the offer should contact Kay Gregson at Chamber Business Connections on 01204 336099.
