Clarets front-runner Robbie Blake is backing himself and Ian Moore to fire a charge up the table - if the pair can hang on to the striking berths.

Both players have found themselves operating in deeper, in Blake's case, or wider, in Moore's case, roles at times over this season.

As a result both have had periods where goals have proved hard to come by, but the pair look to be back in the groove and it has certainly given Blake reason to be confident about what the Clarets can achieve this season.

"Mooro has been outstanding and every week you know he is going to work so hard for the team," said Blake.

"He is a great person to play alongside in attack with and I think Mooro has shown what he can do as he has scored five or six when he has been played up front.

"And, after a run without goals, I have got back to scoring again and if I can get to Christmas with double figures I'll be more than pleased."

Tomorrow Blake and Moore look set to test their attacking form against Sheffield United's defence.

Just four weeks ago the Clarets went down 1-0 at Bramall Lane, but Blake felt that Burnley had nothing to fear on their own track against the third placed team in Division One.

"I felt that we played well against them at their ground, but more importantly we played well in our last home game against Reading.

"In the second half we looked a much better team and what we have to do is keep that going into the game against Sheffield United.

"They are a good side, but I would not bet against us at home. Teams will have to come and work to take points off us at Turf Moor and the aim again tomorrow is to take three points.

"And that is what we have got to do because I feel that we should be higher in the table and we need to make some progress in the league."
