EDUCATION Minister Ivan Lewis visits Leigh tomorrow to hear first-hand what the Leigh Sports Village means to local people.

The Minister will speak to students and staff at the Marshall Street campus of Wigan and Leigh College to get their views on the £75million scheme.

The scheme will include a new college and a 10,000 seat stadium for Leigh Centurions Rugby League Club and Leigh RMI Football Club.

Leigh MP Andy Burnham will urge the Minister to support the College's bid for funding from The Learning and Skills Council.

Mr Burnham said: "Ivan has taken a personal interest in the Leigh Sports Village scheme and his visit is a timely boost for all of us. I have no doubt that he will hear from himself just how much this means to the town."
