A DRINK-DRIVER knocked a cyclist off his bike and collided with a stationary car after his vehicle went out of control in Queen's Park Road, Blackburn, a court was told.
The town's magistrates heard that Mark Parry initially told police that another man had been driving and he had run off.
But he was arrested and breathalysed after witnesses identified him as the driver.
Parry, 22, formerly of Police Street, Darwen, but currently serving a prison sentence for disqualified driving, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said that at the time of the incident Parry had been homeless and was living in cars he borrowed.
"He couldn't afford the insurance and he began to get into trouble," said Mr Church-Taylor.
"Inevitably he was stopped, tickets were issued, he was disqualified and now, as you have heard, he is serving a custodial sentence. This offence was at the very beginning of that cycle of events."
