GED Walsh has hailed the arrival of next-door neighbour Vince Overson at Ramsbottom United.

Overson made an excellent start to his reign at the Riverside after leaving Padiham as his new team won 1-0 at Skelmersdale United on Tuesday.

Now his assistant boss Walsh is hoping the honeymoon period will continue when United host Curzon Ashton in the League Challenge Cup second round tomorrow.

"Curzon Ashton are going well so it will be a good test of how far we've come," said Walsh.

"We are at the point where every game is important to us in terms of consistency as a team and getting a winning run going.

"We can build on each performance and the performance the other night was particularly good. We played fantastic football against a side doing very well in Skelmersdale.

"We've been going well anyway in the last two games but since Vince's welcome arrival he's brought his experience to the job.

"It will take him a week or so to get to grips with who we have in the team and squad and if there's anything he can add to it, but I don't think there will be major changes in personnel.

"It's a nice bright start and we've been going well over the last month so we're looking to keep continuity and consistency in our performance.

"It was nice to get three points as we've got the cup this week and the week after."

Ramsbottom are in FA Vase third round action a week on Saturday with a trip to Gedling Town.
