PUBBERS and clubbers are being urged to keep a close eye on their drinks following the shocking national rise in drink-spiking incidents.
Wigan and Leigh Community Safety Partnership and Leigh Town Centre Pub and Club Watch Scheme are fronting the campaign alongside the national drugs awareness organisation Lifeline, to encourage people not to leave their drinks unattended.
A series of leaflets and posters informing local pub and club-goers about the nationwide increase in use of drugs.
Police Licensing Officer, Ian Liptrot warned: "Don't leave your drink unattended, don't accept drinks from strangers and look after your mates and they'll look after you."
Police believe motives for drink spiking include sexual assault, theft and devilment.
Cabinet Member for Community Safety Cllr Keith Cunliffe said: "We hope everyone enjoys safe nights out. Keeping your eyes open and following this advice should make your night even safer."
