RECORD-BREAKING Radcliffe Borough goalscorer Jody Banim has completed a £20,000 move to Shrewsbury Town.

The 25-year-old has signed a deal until June 2005 with the Nationwide Conference side.

Banim recently set what is believed to be a senior football record by scoring in 14 consecutive matches.

Unibond Premier Division Borough had already turned down two bids from Shrewsbury for the former Manchester United junior.

"I'm absolutely delighted the move has come off and I can't wait to get started," Banim told Shrewsbury's official website.

Radcliffe manager Kevin Glendon said: "He's a smashing lad and I'm very pleased for him. I'm sad because I didn't want him to go, but I couldn't stand in his way.

"We don't want to be seen as a club that constantly sells its best players, but this was an opportunity for the player to better himself.

"Jody has played a huge part in getting this club where it is now. Without his goals, we probably wouldn't have got promoted."

Borough return to Unibond League action tomorrow when they visit Altrincham (3pm).

Boss Glendon is hoping that his side will tighten up defensively after conceding ten goals in their last two matches -- including a 5-4 defeat at Droylsden.

"I'm starting to be tagged as the Kevin Keegan of non-league football," Glendon said. "But no one hates conceding goals more than me."
