FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at an empty flat after rubbish and furniture caught light.
Emergency crews were called to Netley Gardens at 1.15am on Saturday (Dec 6) after neighbours raised the alarm.
Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus to enter the flat and extinguish flames in a rear bedroom.
The door to a downstairs flat was kicked down for an evacuation, but rooms were found to be empty. A fire crew remained at the scene until the building was made safe and windows were boarded up.
No cause has yet been established for the fire, with the possibility that it was started maliciously still under investigation.
