BURNLEY hot-shot Robbie Blake wants the Clarets to achieve much more than just survival this season.

Top scorer Blake has Coventry in his sights this weekend as Stan Ternent's men look to continue their march up the First Division table on the back of a four-game unbeaten run.

Boss Ternent has poured cold water on any suggestions his threadbare squad is strong enough to mount any sort of play-off challenge.

But Blake, whose brace was instrumental in last Saturday's 3-2 win over Sheffield United last Saturday, is setting his sights high.

He said: "I think we have to aim higher than mid-table because we have good players at the club and we are certainly good enough to be in the play-offs.

"Seven points out of the last three games, against top teams, shows we can do it and now we have to kick on.

"It's Coventry on Saturday, which is another vital three points."

Blake, whose four goals in as many games puts him well on target for a career best total of 20 for the season, added: "It's nice when you hit a purple patch and if you can keep that going over Christmas it sets you up for the rest of the season.

"That's 11 now for the season and I don't want to talk about it too much or I'll get a nosebleed!

"Things are going well for me because I always set myself a target of double figures by Christmas. I'm past that now, so hopefully I can push on and get 20."

Meanwhile, Ternent is hopeful of having several more options at his disposal when Gary McAllister's Sky Blues roll into town on Saturday following last night's 1-1 home draw with Sunderland.

Influential Clarets midfielder Richard Chaplow misses the game through suspension under the totting up process - and will become the third player in as many games, following Arthur Gnohere and David May, to suffer a one-match ban.

However, May himself is up for selection again while skipper Graham Branch will hopefully make a full recovery from the calf strain that has forced him out of the last two games.

Looking forward, Ternent said: "Coventry represents another opportunity to win a game and get three points on the board.

"The players are playing quite well and we are creating chances and so long as no-one gets run over I have a chance of getting a strong side out again.

"Richard is suspended, but David comes back into the equation and, I hope, Graham Branch will come back.

"Alan Moore has gone down to Lilleshall, so he's also on the road to recovery."
