BLACKBURN under-15s look to make progress in the Lancashire Schools' League when they take on local rivals Rossendale at Fearns High School on Saturday (kick-off 10.30).

The local youngsters have made a fine start to their league campaign beating Burnley 4-2 and Hyndburn 2-1 but they slipped up against West Lancashire losing 3-2 at Skelmersdale.

Blackburn are also chasing honours in the North West Alder-Owen Trophy and they have been drawn against Mid-Cheshire in the first round.

Rossendale were due to meet Bury in their first round clash last week but the tie was postponed until the New Year.

The first round draw is: Manchester v Wirral, Knowsley v Wigan, Bolton v South Cheshire, Preston v St. Helens, Bury v Rossendale, Salford v Blackpool, Trafford v Tameside, Mid Cheshire v Blackburn.

Blackburn under-14s are also looking forward to the North West Woodward Trophy and they have been draw at home to Sefton in the first round.

The draw is : Knowlsey v Manchester, Stockport v Preston, St Helens v Bolton, Chorley v Wigan, Salford v Rossendale, Blackpool v Liverpool, Blackburn v Sefton, Tameside v Trafford.

Pendle under-15s were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley in their Lancashire League match, last week.

Tom McQueen gave Pendle a 20th minute lead but Burnley claimed a share of the points when Ali Akbar headed home a James Crorcken corner.

Meanwhile, at individual schools level, Fisher More School under-16s have become the first Pendle school to reach the 1st Round of the ESFA under-16s Individual Schools Cup.

They will represent Lancashire after beating Montgomery School (Blackpool) 4-1 in the semi final of the Lancashire Individual Schools competition.

St Wilfred's C.E. High School (Blackburn) had to rely on penalties to move into the fifth round of the ESFA Under 18s Individual Schools Cup.

They pipped St Mary's RC School (Ilkley) 7-6 on penalties after the two teams fought out a 2-2 extra time draw.

St Wilfred's have now been drawn away to Rossett School of Harrogate.

St Bede's Catholic High School are through to the fifth round of the English

Schools under-14s Schools Cup after beating All Hallows School of Preston 6-3 in their fourth round clash.

The Blackburn youngsters have been in top form in the national knockout cup and they will now travel to meet St Bede's Boys Grammar School (Bradford) in the fifth round.
