POLICE chiefs will be making guest appearances at Burnley's newest supermarket to tell the public more about their work.

Members of the town centre policing team and Burnley's Chief Inspector Richard Morgan will be at Tesco, Active Way, Burnley, on Friday.

They will tell shoppers what is being done to tackle drug-related crime and will hand out newsletters about other policing initiatives.

The "cop shop" follows a similar event at Asda two months ago, designed to increase community involvement with the police.

Chief Insp Richard Morgan said: "We are keen to increase interaction with the public and better inform them about our work. We are doing a number of things to achieve this goal including holding regular roadshows like this one.

"By targeting big name high street stores and supermarkets, we aim to reach a wide audience including people who may otherwise never come into contact with senior officers.

"I hope people doing their shopping will spare a couple of minutes to see us."

Chief Inspector Morgan will be in the foyer at the new store from 2-4pm.
