THREE people were arrested earlier today after police executed a drugs warrant at an address in Burnley.

Following the execution of the warrant at a house in Leyland Road the property was searched and a quantity of a substance believed to be heroin was found.

Two people from the address were arrested. One was given police bail pending analysis of the drugs and the other was released no further action. A further search was carried out on a person visiting the address and they were arrested and cautioned for possession of cannabis.

The Police Community Support Officer, Zahid Ahmed, delivered a letter to local residents to explain what has happened.

The raid was led by Community Beat Manager Andy Kent.

He said: "This warrant has been executed following information provided by the community and in support of the community". Inspector Chris Bithell added: "It is our intention to help residents to live in a safe and secure environment and with the continued co-operation of the community we will carry out similar operations."
