PLANNING officers from Burnley Borough Council have been slammed over amended plans for an additional home in Brownside Road. At a recent meeting of the parish council, councillors said they were angry over a lack of consultation about the plans and felt the site entrance could be dangerous. The planning officer explained that the Highways Authority had particularly asked for the entrance to be constructed in that way, and the Borough Council would be subject to costs being awarded against them if they made decisions disregarding professional advice.

The parish councillors decided to invite a representative from Lancashire County Councl's Highways Authority to the next meeting.

The parish clerk's correspondence included planning applications from October, some of which the parish councillors felt had not been seen by them previously.

BOROUGH councillors, parish councillors and the police are to hold a joint surgery in the Reading Room on Saturday, January 10 between 11am and 1pm. All residents are invited along with any problems or concerns they may have.

THE parish clerk is to report the blocked gulleys at Brownside Bridge to Burnley Borough Council engineers.

COUN Alan Lawson will check whether the borough council has found his handmade map of walks around Worsthorne, if not he will produce another one. Hopefully, the map will be mounted and displayed in the village.
