RALLY co-driver Phil Peak has finished his year on a roll -- which is exactly what he didn't want.

For the Oswaldtwistle-based civil engineer made a spectacular exit from the Grizedale Stages after his driver, Simon Taft, put their Peugeot 205 GTi on its roof.

The pair emerged unscathed, although their Viva Voce-sponsored car - which was on its last event - looked rather worse for wear.

"The car was going to be used a rally hire car next year, so in an effort to reduce potential damage to it on Grizedale, we jacked up the suspension," explained Phil.

"Unfortunately, this affected the handling and a fast right-hander on the first stage caught us out. The back end stepped out, then spun 360 degrees then dug in and barrell-rolled twice.

"Although we came to rest back on our wheels, we were ten foot below the road and there was no way we could get out. The recovery crew managed to hoist it back onto he road and with a few cable ties to hold the bodywork together, we drove out of the stage.

"We got back to the service area where Bob Rose and the team from Supreme Motorsport checked it over, and we went out to complete the last two stages as trophy rally at the back of the field.

"With only one headlight working and a blowing exhaust, we were never going to be on the pace, but at least we got some mileage out of the event.

"This was our last outing in the 1.6-litre car as Supreme Motorsport are building a fresh 1.9-litre version to compete in next year's 205 Scholarship.

"We are looking for sponsors to help us in our championship attempt, and hopefully we will be out on the first round, which is back in Grizedale,on the Malcolm Wilson Rally."
