A GOAL after just six minutes set up Lancaster City for a much-needed 3-1 win over Marine at Giant Axe on Tuesday night.
Tony Sullivan beat a flat-footed Marine defence in the race for a massive clearance to slot the opener and ease the pressure on the Dolly Blues.
After dropping into the relegation zone following a weekend defeat at Whitby, City have now leapt five places up the table following this comfortable outing.
Farrell Kilbane scored City's second on half an hour, pouncing on the rebound after John Robertson's header came back off the crossbar.
And though Marine hit back with a goal to reward them for a good spell at the start of the second peiod, substitute Ryan Elderton restored Lancaster's two-goal advantage as he took advantage of a defender's block to help a shot from Phil Clarkson into the net on 78 minutes.
CITY: Welsby, Mercer, Scott, Kilbane, Robertson, Sparrow, Sullivan, Bauress (Clarkson 70), Jones, Hughes (Elderton 76), Prince (Uberschar 73)
