POLICE have investigated an incident involving two schoolgirls who complained that they were grabbed as they passed an alleyway near Fred Longworth High School in Tyldesley.

The alleged incident happened as a party of pupils were walking from church to school one morning last week.

Police Inspector Mike Sheard said the incident had been reported to them some hours after one of the 13-year-olds claimed to have elbowed an assailant who had placed a hand on her shoulder.

"We do not have a description of the attacker but have made door-to-door inquiries in the area," he said.

Fred Longworth deputy head Pete Hodkinson said the school party was accompanied by three adults who had not witnessed the incident.
